House of Delegates @ Safety 2018

Are you attending Safety 2018?  Do you have an interest in attending the Regional Caucus meeting prior to the House of Delegates meeting?  We invite you to join us.  the Regional Caucus will meet at 9:00AM on Sunday, June 3rd.  The Caucus is for the Regional Vice Presidents, Area Directors, Chapter Presidents who are in attendance, but most importantly they are for the Chapter House of Delegate (HOD) Representatives.  Members of the Society team will come in and discuss items that may be discussed or voted upon at the House of Delegates meeting and be able to answer questions for the Delegates who will then attend the HOD meeting 12:00PM – 3:30PM on Sunday, June 3rd.  If you have an interest, we invite you to come and sit in, listen and learn more about how the society and the regions function.  There will also be a roped off section for non-Delegates to sit in on the HOD meeting and observe the voting process.

Educate to Mitigate Hazards – July 26-27, 2018

The 2018 Wilmington Safety School is set for July 26-27 at the Wilmington Convention Center, a state of the art convention center located by historic downtown Wilmington’s famous riverwalk and convenient to Wilmington International Airport (ILM).  The event is also conveniently located about 30 minutes from area beaches (Wrightsville Beach and Carolina Beach). Registration for both attendees and sponsors/exhibitors is now open.

Keynote Speaker: John Formica, the “Ex-Disney Guy”

John is a highly sought after internationally known speaker and author.  In this Keynote session, John with present, “Making Relationships Magical!”  You will learn how to communicate, connect, be more likable and memorable to others in 30 seconds of less.  You will learn to create relationships and build loyalty for life.  These skill are paramount to successfully give the knowledge to identify hazards and working together as a team to mitigate hazards.

General Session: Jack Jackson- The Bad Side of Town

Have you ever noticed how being on the bad side of town heightens your awareness level? Whether you’ve had a bad experience, or by reputation alone, there’s an overwhelming urge for self-preservation. Can this awareness level be applied to recognizing your state of mind when a workplace injury occurs? Explore the signs that you are on the bad side of town at work when it comes to injuries and use the tools provided in this session to manage those states.

Topic: “Effective Strategies for Maintaining Employee Engagement”

Rixio E. Medina, CSP, CPP is Business Development Director with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. With 37 years of OSH experience in oil and gas, he has worked as Vice-President of Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Shared Services for CITGO Petroleum Corporation, BP and Mobil. Rixio was appointed by the President of the United States to serve on the Chemical Safety Board, and served four term appointments as occupational safety professional representative on the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health.
